Mental Capacity, Delegates (formerly Curatorship), Elderly and Vulnerable Clients

With today’s growing elderly population, there are many more clients who need help with the management of their legal and financial affairs.

Delegates (formerly Curatorship)

We often advise clients on legal and financial matters arising as they care for vulnerable family members. Where there are no family members who are able to act as Delegate, we may be able to take this responsibility, giving our clients peace of mind that their affairs are being handled to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

We are increasingly advising clients who wish to plan for the future and the possibility of a time when they may be no longer able to manage their own affairs. Lasting Powers of Attorney are often used in families to delegate responsibility for the management of financial affairs when the donor (the person giving the power) wishes to take a step back from such responsibilities. Living Wills and Advance Decisions

A Living Will or Advance Decision enables you to set out your healthcare and welfare choices in the event you are no longer able to make or communicate such decisions for yourself. You may also appoint a healthcare proxy to whom healthcare professionals should consult when caring for you.

Cross-border issues

For international clients, we are able to assist in cross-border issues and the registration of foreign powers in Jersey.
