Bedell Cristin Guernsey has been named offshore law firm of the year in the UK Captive Services Awards 2013.
The awards recognise excellence in the delivery and management of captive insurance and celebrate those who have shaped the industry in the last year.
Bedell Cristin managing partner in Guernsey, Mark Helyar, said that being named offshore law firm of the year by Captive Review was a clear recognition of the firm’s leading expertise in the insurance and reinsurance sector, and in the use of PCC and ICC company structures, which has helped to drive significant growth in the Guernsey market during 2012.
"Our commitment to partnership with our clients to understand their business and develop innovative new products and services at a reasonable cost has been a clear factor in winning offshore law firm of the year. As well as the first private catastrophe bond listing anywhere in the world, the development of a PCC cell as a form of mutual insurer was an entirely new use of this structure and enabled our clients to offer a bespoke solution which is only available in Guernsey." said Mark Helyar.
The UK Captive Services Awards, which formed part of the Captive Live UK Conference, took place on Tuesday 12 February 2013 in London, bringing together more than 200 captive insurance professionals from the UK and Europe and included 20 award categories across a variety of sectors including legal, advisory, technology and captive management. The judging panel included leading industry practitioners.
